The Search Process

Briefing

In meetings with client executives the position to be filled is discussed in depth and relevant company information is obtained. The briefing is confirmed in a detailed Briefing Confirmation Report in order to place on record our understanding of the client organisation, the position to be filled, the candidate profile, the terms of service to be offered and assignment research information.

Research

Dedicated candidate identification research is carried out and a computer database file search is conducted for further candidates and sources. Prior to making contact with prospective candidates, the candidate research may be reviewed with the client.

Screening and Interviewing

From preliminary conversations, it is established which individuals have an interest in the appointment and appear to match the profile as defined in the Briefing Confirmation Report. Subsequently, potential candidates are met to discuss the opportunity with them in depth, in order to complete our evaluation against the ideal profile.

Presentation of Candidates

The candidates who are most qualified are presented to the client through written reports. These reports are reviewed with the client and further interviews are scheduled and co-ordinated.

Usually, the selected candidates are introduced personally to the client. The consultant is present in their first interview, as well as any further discussions, as required.

Final Selection and Follow Up

Once interest in one or two candidates is agreed upon, an extensive reference check is conducted. When the client is prepared to make an offer, the consultant is available to assist with the often delicate final negotiations in order to reconcile the interests of both parties.

In the final stage of an assignment MCP may recommend the professional assistance of other specialist consultancy firms such as Hewitt Associates, one of the world’s leading compensation & benefits specialists (www.hewitt.com) - especially when split pay contracts or expatriation are involved.

Following formal completion of the assignment, the consultant stays in close contact with both client and appointed candidate during the integration period and beyond.
